Robert R. Williams, Chairman, Insigma HengTian Software Ltd

Robert R. Williams is the Chairman of Insigma HengTian Software Ltd, a joint venture of State Street Corp. and Insigma Technology Ltd. of Hangzhou, China.  Bob has forty years’ experience in banking and investment services, most recently as Executive Vice President of State Street with responsibility for its Asia Pacific and Latin America Investment Services business.  In 2001, while in that role, he was involved in the establishment and funding of the initial Technology Center established between Zhejiang University’s College of Software Engineering and State Street.  In 2003, Bob worked on establishing the entity that ultimately became State Street Hangzhou, a captive software development and BPO operation in Hangzhou.  In 2006, he helped to create Insigma HengTian Software Ltd..  Bob currently serves as Chairman of the Board of that JV.
Bob and his family lived for 19 years in Sydney and Hong Kong.  He has substantial experience with regional regulatory and fiduciary affairs in the Asia Pacific. He was involved in the late 1990′s as joint leader of a senior consulting team to the Hong Kong government on the creation of the Mandatory Provident Fund and worked over an extended period, along with a number of other firms and individuals, with PRC regulators on the creation of rules and procedures to support the introduction of the open end mutual fund industry in China.
Bob is a former independent director of a Shanghai-based, U.S.-China joint venture mutual fund company, is an advisor to a Washington-based pension consulting firm specializing in technology and workflows and is involved in various volunteer organizations in the U.S.  He is a Vietnam Veteran and serves from time to time as a volunteer pilot for military and civilian patients requiring transport to acute care medical facilities.  Bob has a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and MA from the University of Missouri at Kansas City.

Chao Lu, Managing Partner at Grand View Capital

Chao is Managing Partner at GrandView Capital (大观资本). He started his career in Motorola China Mobile OS and witnessed the vigorous development of China's mobile industry in the golden era. Chao has deep ties with Silicon Valley entrepreneurial ecosystem and has successfully launched a number of Internet companies. He is also President of the North America alumni association for Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Foudner partner at Silicon Valley Entrepreneurs Association. Chao’s familiarity with both the US entrepreneurial environment and China gives him unique insights in Mobile Internet and TMT sectors.
Chao is responsible for the Grand View North America business.

Grand View Capital is a fund that focused on companies in mobile internet and TMT space that are going overseas. Sean Cao, Managing Director at C-Bridge Capital 


Dr. Sean Cao is the Managing Director of C-Bridge Capital, a heal care VC fund based in China with $700M AUM. Prior to that, Dr. Cao was VP of Global Business Development at Simcere Pharmaceutical Group, responsible for the global BD strategy for Simcere, including licensing, acquisition, partnering and investment activities. Dr. Cao was also the President and Board Director at Simcere of America, a wholly owned subsidiary of Simcere. Prior to that, Dr. Cao was the Senior Director of Alternative Partnership, Evaluation & Expertise at Sanofi, where he led the externalization effort in Global R&D. In addition, Dr. Cao was also responsible for managing the evaluation of acquisition/in-licensing opportunities, directly responsible for the due diligence of multiple investment decisions worth more than $4B. Before Sanofi, Sean was an associate at New Leaf Venture Partners, a leading healthcare VC firm based in New York. Sean worked in the pharmaceutical and diagnostic industries for over eight years before joining New Leaf, first at Aventis, then at Johnson & Johnson. Sean is a member of BayHelix, a premier organization of Chinese life sciences business leaders. Sean holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Virginia, an MBA with honor from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.Sc. in Microbiology from Nankai University. 

         
Walter Huang, CEO at Tianjin Binhai VC Investment Management Co., Ltd.

Walter Huang is CEO of Tianjin Binhai VC Investment, managing the national strategic emerging industry’s venture capital funded by China government’s National Development and Reform Commission. He also serves as a Board Director of China Wind Power International Corp, one of the largest independent wind energy companies in China.

Mr. Huang has more than 10 years private equity investment and investment banking experience in such industries as Internet/telecommunication, media, high-tech, consumer products, aviation, clean tech and renewable energy. He led the effort of a consortium consisting of five US and Chinese companies to build the largest theme park in Beijing with an investment of over a billion dollar. He also involved in the investment in entertainment (movie and TV) and sports industries in both China and US, and acted as a producer for TV serials and movies.

As a frequent public speaker, he given speeches at a variety of conferences hosted by Harvard, MIT, the Univ. of Chicago Booth School of Business, Peking Univ., Tsinghua Univ., Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business, Wuhan Univ., the United States of America-China Chamber of Commerce, and other organizations as well as Chinese government agencies.

Mr. Huang is a recipient of the 2010 Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business Award in US.

He graduated from Fudan Univ, Shanghai with a B.S. in Electronic Engineering, and performed graduate study at the Univ of Cincinnati for 3 years.

Dr. Jijun Xing, Chinese Consulate-General in New York, Science and Technology Counselor

Dr. Xing Jijun, Science and Technology Counselor in Chinese Consulate-General in New York. He received a bachelor degree of engineering, Tianjing University, a master degree in economics, People’s University of China and a PhD in administrative management, Huazhong S&T University. Dr. Xing has years of experience since 1990 in managing and facilitating international scientific and technological cooperation. He served in Chinese Embassies in Norway and the Netherlands, Director of Asia and Africa and Director of Europe in the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST). Before taking the current position, Dr. Xing served China Science and Technology Exchange Center as Deputy Director General covering governmental and non-governmental cooperation in science and technology, technology transfer and academic exchanges. His personal academic interest includes low carbon development technologies and low cost health technologies etc. Dr. Xing is now still a strategic evaluation expert for international cooperation under European Horizon 2020 program.

Linda Ji, Partner @ Nixon Peabody LLP

Ms. Ji's practice focuses on corporate and securities laws. Ms. Ji has extensive experience in cross-border business transactions, focusing on inbound and outbound transactions cross the borders of U.S. and China.

Ms. Ji has advised a wide range of privately and publicly held companies (ranging from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies) in a variety of corporate transactional and securities matters, including setting up companies, private equity and venture capital investments, mergers and acquisitions, IPOs and private securities offerings, public company reporting and securities law compliance, and international business transactions.

Ms. Ji has advised both U.S. and Chinese companies on deal structuring, choice of entities, joint ventures, wholly foreign owned enterprises (WFOEs) or subsidiaries, regulatory filings, mergers and acquisitions and securities offerings, as well as manufacturing, distribution and licensing arrangements.


Lingping Gao,  Founder, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman at NetBrain

Founder, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman at NetBrain. Lingping Gao founded NetBrain Technologies in 2004 with a mission to simplify network management. Prior to founding NetBrain, Mr. Gao was the Chief Network Architect at Thomson Financial, where he managed the complexities of large enterprise networks and experienced the challenges of maintaining network performance. Mr. Gao has experience within multiple areas of business, including management, engineering and international business within the networking, software and automotive industries. Mr. Gao holds a BS and a BA in Automotive Engineering from Tsinghua University and an MS in Engineering from Yale University.


Coach Wei, Founder/CEO of Project JOY, Yottaa and Nexaweb 

Coach K Wei is a CEO and entrepreneur with 20 years of track record of building venture backed startups from concept to successful exit.  He founded Nexaweb in 2000, one of the first web 2.0 software companies. He grew Nexaweb to many Global 2000 enterprise customers such as Nokia, Siemens, Pepsi until its acquisition.  He then founded Yottaa in 2009, pioneered automated digital experience optimization and grew to hundreds of enterprise customers. He recently founded Project JOY, a stealth mode artificial intelligence software company.  


A graduate from MIT and Tsinghua University, he is inventor of 20+ patents, covering areas from distributed computing, big data, Web 2.0, intelligent automations, user experience optimizations, E-commerce, ultrasound and fluid processing. Zhiqi Liu, Founder of Daedalus Technology, East U.S. representative of Tsuihang Industry Park

Zhiqi is founder of Daedalus technology, an IT startup aiming to provide seamless precise location information services in the uprising LBS (location based service) market. Prior to her startup, she has 18-years of experience working at EMC, the largest information storage company, covering a range of professional areas including hardware, software, QE, management and program management.

In this talk, she will share her story with laughs and tears of starting IT business in US & working with partners in China. 

Ms. Liu holds a B.S in Electric Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and a M.S in Computer Engineering from Iowa State University. She was educated for M.B.A at Babson College and also PMP certified.
